For Immediate Release
Victoria BC, Canada. 09 December, 2010 --
The US ARMY has installed two EAGLE solar powered LED airfield lighting systems with the Solar Series LED PAPI system at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, USA. In consultation with Aviation Renewables, Ft Campbell required a cost effective lighting system that could be installed quickly, provide visible and NVG mode lighting intensities for overt and covert training, reduce environmental impact during install and operation, and be procured at a significantly reduced cost compared to electrical hard wired airfield lighting systems. The EAGLE runway lighting system and Solar Series LED two-box PAPI will support box and one operations, VFR and non-precision IFR lighting capabilities on Runway 18/36 for both fixed wing and helicopter operations. The airfields Heliport, Destiny 23, will provide a lighted landing lane for helicopters during training and landing operations in visible or NVG mode.
The EAGLE and Solar Series LED PAPI systems will relieve traffic congestion previously restricted to Runway 5/23 which will allow ATC operators to conduct additional or simultaneous take off and landing operations in visible and NVG mode. The installation of the EAGLE and Solar Series LED PAPI system systems will provide further benefit to multiple forces operating and training at Ft. Campbell ARMY airfield today before deploying for future operations. As one of the busiest ARMY airfields today, Ft Campbell continues to lead the way through the use of industry leading technology that improves the safety and readiness of its aviators while minimizing footprint and resources.
