Solar Series Runway Guard Lights to Support NATO Operations

E-mail Print PDF

For Immediate Release

Victoria BC, Canada. 02 August, 2011 --//

The Solar Series Runway Guard Lights will be installed in Afghanistan at an international airport to support vehicle and aircraft operations carried out by NATO.  Working with Aviation Renewables, the airfield required a low cost, highly reliable 24/7 solar runway guard light solution that would increase safety at previously unmarked intersections of the airfield.  With successful installations at other airfields throughout Afghanistan, the solar runway guard light was selected for both visible and NVG use during night and day operations, eliminating the need to install an additional electrical circuit that would require constant power.

The Solar RGL can be configured with an integrated solar engine or a remotely installed solar engine with installation up to 3 meters from the light housing. The self-contained solar engine comes with frangible mounting accessories and is available with optional radio frequency controller, providing command and control features from an Air Traffic Control tower or remote location
