The Red Horse Division of the US Air Force has ordered and installed 440 solar powered taxiway, helipad and apron edge lights with supporting frangible mounting accessories from Avlite Systems of North Carolina, USA. An additional follow-up order of 24 solar powered approach and obstruction lights was placed shortly thereafter for urgent delivery to Afghanistan. The self-contained solar powered lighting solutions will support forward operations in remote locations where environmental conditions are adverse, demanding and relentless undergoing continuous rotor wash, sand blasting and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
