For Immediate Release
Victoria BC, Canada. 25 August, 2010 --\ Britain’s Ministry of Defence has ordered 170 Avlite Systems solar LED taxiway lights with frangible mounting systems from Aviation Renewables UK partner company Systems Interface Ltd. The British MOD will install the AV70 series solar taxiway lights at Camp Bastion, the main British defence base in Afghanistan. Activated by the UK Forces in 2006, Camp Bastion is the 5th busiest UK operated airport in the world with the airfield handling C-17s; C-130 transport aircraft; Apache and Chinook helicopters.

Camp Bastion has operated solar LED lighting solutions throughout the years so in conjunction with a need to continue to improve performance, safety, energy and waste reduction, the air base chose the Avlite AV70 Series solar taxiway lights. The AV70 Series are industry’s longest standing and most proven self-contained dusk till dawn solar taxiway light with replaceable battery pack, 3 year warranty, radio control option and misled design. “The UK MOD have taken a very close look at the alternatives and have decided on the AV70 lights based on the lower cost of ownership provided by the lower capitol costs and reduced waste after end of battery life, better performance through optical and RF control options and industry’s best warrantee” says Systems Interface’s Eddie Lacina. Systems Interface, the leader in providing renewable airfield lighting and power solutions throughout the United Kingdom, Middle East and certain parts of Africa continue to install and support state of the art solutions for both the civil and defense aviation industry.
