For Immediate Release

Victoria, BC. Canada,  06 Nov. 09 --/ Working with HSS Engineering of Denmark, an industry leader in sirens and warning systems, Aviation Renewables was able to provide solar powered LED lighting systems for Kabul International Airport and Kandahar Airfield in support of NATO operations in Afghanistan. HSS Engineering required a rugged, easy to install, stand-alone ICAO compliant Type A obstruction light for the obstruction marking of large voice sirens at Kandahar Airfield.  Strategic partner Avlite Systems of North Carolina USA, was able to provide a low power solution with built in battery, solar panel and electronic assembly, thereby eliminating the need for power and infrastructure.

In addition, HSS Engineering was required to light larger siren and warning systems at Kabul International Airport.  NATO standards required an ICAO compliant Type C, 2000 candela steady on LED obstruction light, powered by custom designed solar systems with on/off controls.  Strategic partner Unimar Inc., a global leader in LED lighting and control systems designed a custom control system that operated the LED obstruction lighting while satisfying the operational and security requirements of NATO.  HSS Engineering stated a common goal for both projects; the need for high quality solar LED obstruction lighting that complied with NATO’s requirements while ensuring reliable performance in the harsh conditions that are found in Afghanistan.

HSS Engineering has been providing voice and siren warning systems to public, industrial and defense institutions since 2003 throughout various regions and nations.
