For Immediate Release
Victoria BC, Canada. 24 Janurary, 2011 -- / Aviation Renewables has been awarded a contract to deliver a portable LED PAPI to support winter and summer aircraft operations inside the Arctic Circle of Northern Canada. Due to the extremely challenging conditions of Arctic operations, the LED PAPI, manufactured by Laser Guidance Inc. (LGI), will be outfitted with a customized cold weather heating kit, tactical mounting legs and the capability to operate from either AC electrical power or solar power. Smaller transport planes and cargo aircraft as large as an A330 will receive precise LED glide slope illumination from the LGI LED PAPI
system during final approach for landings on a frozen lakebed. During summer and fall operations, the portable LED PAPI will be relocated to an adjacent gravel runway with the option to run from the Solar Series power system. Working in coordination with Laser Guidance Inc. a partner of Aviation Renewables, LGI was able to develop a customized solution that will operate under extremely cold conditions where sunlight and visibility can be marginalized or limited from October to March due to the northern latitudes of the Artic. Aviation Renewables will provide consulting support during the commissioning of the system in early February. As the leading provider of portable, permanent and sustaining LED PAPI and APAPI operations throughout the world, Laser Guidance Inc. and Aviation Renewables continue to deliver industry leading solutions for civilian, humanitarian aid, industrial and defence operations.
